A new pottery studio on the trail

News

Local pottery and sculptor Darryl Frost has recently opened a new pottery studio with a large gallery on the Great Taste Trail Coastal Route. Darryl specialises in anagama wood fired ceramics and his Japanese-style anamaga kilns tumble down the hill behind the gallery. Wood-firing is not for the faint-hearted. The large size of the kiln means the potter needs a lot of work to fill it, so the firings are a grand occasion. A lot of wood is required, and the firing team need to be on hand to feed the kiln for many hours.

Sustainable & Eco-Friendly

We are evolving and adapting to minimise our impact on this wonderful planet we call Te Ao / Earth. Choosing to offset 120% of the carbon emitted by our vehicles and electricity consumption, the wonderful people at Ekos are rewilding Mohua, an indigenous forest in Golden Bay. We're proud to support this and other great initiatives to improve the biodiversity and resilience of our natural habitats.
