Yes the weather is terrible at times now that winter is in full effect. Whilst many cyclists choose Nelson for cycling adventures in the warmer months of the year, friend and family groups are beating the winter blues and booking our Great Taste Beer Tour. Completing the 16km flat circuit is nice and simple, family friendly and completely off road.
Most people go anticlockwise, following the old Railway Reserve towards the Nelson Classic Car Museum (which has a nice cafe) and the first bar; Speight’s Ale House. Onwards towards the coast and the Honest Lawyer, a classic old British-style pub set right on the water. Enjoy the crisp winter air in the gorgeous gardens, or sneak inside and enjoy the large fire, allowing you to warm up with a drink inside, whilst admiring the coastal views outside.

Families may want to take a detour around Monaco, a sand spit with beaches, a playground and reserve with great views over the Waimea Inlet.
Continuing up the coast towards Richmond, Eddyline Brewery is a bar and pizzeria that always delights with its wide range of batch brewed beers and delicious wood fired pizzas.
Heading back towards our base, make sure you leave enough time to pop into the legendary McCashin’s Tap Room. Redeem your voucher for a paddle of beers (or Rochdale cider) to decide which is your favourite brew from this historic Nelson institution.
